The short version

Indie Index is a free, ad-free, curated directory. We review every listing by hand, we can decline or remove one at our discretion, and your work stays yours — you just let us display it.

1. What Indie Index is

We're a curated directory of people researching, building, and solving from India. We help visitors find and reach builders. We are not a marketplace, an employer, an investor, or an agent. We don't broker deals, take a cut, or guarantee any outcome from a connection made here.

2. Who can join

Profiles are for people doing genuine work connected to India. You must be at least 16, give accurate information about yourself, and list only yourself — one profile per person. Don't create a profile for a company or a persona that isn't a real person's work.

3. Your account

You sign in with Google or a magic link. You're responsible for keeping access to your email secure, and for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.

4. Listings and review

Every new profile and every edit goes through review — an automated pre-check followed by a person — before it's published. We curate, which means:

  • We may publish, decline, edit for clarity, feature, or remove a listing at our discretion.
  • We aim to explain a rejection, and you're welcome to fix things and resubmit.
  • Being listed is not an endorsement, ranking, or guarantee by us.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you add — your bio, photo, links, and work. By submitting it, you give us a non-exclusive licence to display and promote your profile within the directory and, where it helps people discover you, on our own channels (for example, a social-media spotlight). You can end this licence by removing your profile.

You promise that what you submit is yours to share, is accurate, and doesn't infringe anyone else's rights.

6. Acceptable use

Keep it honest and respectful. Don't:

  • Impersonate someone, or post misleading or fraudulent information.
  • Submit spam, malware, or anything unlawful, hateful, or infringing.
  • Scrape, bulk-download, or harvest profiles, or use the directory to send unsolicited bulk messages.
  • Try to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service.

7. Nominations

Only nominate someone in good faith — a real person whose work you think belongs here — and only share their email for that purpose. We'll email them an invitation that says you sent it. They're free to decline, and a profile is only created if they choose to complete it.

8. Free and ad-free

The directory is free to be listed in and free to browse. We don't run ads and we don't charge builders. If that ever changes, we'll say so clearly and in advance.

9. Links and third parties

Profiles link out to builders' own sites and accounts. We don't control those, and we're not responsible for their content, products, or conduct. Reaching out and any relationship that follows is between you and the builder.

10. Our brand

The Indie Index name, logo, and design are ours. Listing your profile doesn't give you rights to use our brand, and you may not copy or imitate it without permission.

11. Disclaimers

The directory is provided “as is.” We review listings for fit and genuineness, but we don't verify every claim, vet builders for you, or guarantee the directory will be uninterrupted or error-free. Do your own diligence before acting on a connection made here.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Indie Index isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for anything arising from your dealings with another person you found through the directory. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

13. Termination

You can remove your profile or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or remove a profile, or an account, that breaches these terms or that we reasonably believe harms the directory or its people.

14. Changes, law & contact

We may update these terms; we'll change the date above and, for significant changes, give notice. These terms are governed by the laws of India. Questions? Email hello@indieindex.in.
